The Paper Mâché Cat
The Paper Mâché Cat
By Joan Elias
Mom "Can I have a cat?" Jessie blurted out at the breakfast table as he poured milk and addd two heaping tablespoons of sugar on his Rice Krispies. Staring in his plate but not focusing on aiming accurately he missed scattering sugar in all directions.
"Clean the sugar up before I get ants crawling all over." And no to the cat. I don't have the time to clean up after a cat or for that mater you. Now clean up the sugar, and hurry up or you'll be late for school."
"l'm helping Mrs. Hendricks after school with Max," Jessie said while carefully placing his chair under the table. He wanted to sow his mom he was responsible enough to have his own cat. He quietly closed the door behind himself as he left for school
Across the street Mrs. Hendrix was pushing a garbage can on wheels to the curb. Max her black and white young tuxedo cat was dashing behind in his yard like a flash of of lightening. The cat was going berserk chasing leaves attacking sticks and clawing himself halfway up th treee then shimmering down again for another round of chasing bugs. Jessie watched with fascination and when the cat saw him the cat came up to him to give him a head butt on his legs.
.
Mrs Hendricks can I give you a hand with the cans? Jessie asked.
That would be very nice. Thank you jessie. What Time will you be over to help tonight? Max has broken through the screen again and i need help securing it with nails.
"About four," jessie replied as he watched max disappear behind the house
..
I better round up max before he decides to hide and i won't be able to find him. I don't allow him outside without someone out with him. Have a nice day in school jessie. See you later.

Soft Pastel Cats In the style of Laurel Burch
Everything is not about taking care of cats. Their would be little growth and rejuvenation without taking time for oneself. Alto I'm here 24/ 7 /365, and have to admit there are times when all seem overwhelming and downtrodden, I have to fit in time for arts and crafts after caring for the basic pneeds of animals and between cleaning shopping and administrative work and visits to the vets. Because I am surrender by lots of cats all the time everything has to be modified to fit into the schema of a multi household of cats. Anyone that knows cats understands as cats can be pretty destructive, demanding and persistent.
I've been working on improving my knowledge of color because I feel I ruin all my sketches when I try to color them. Practicing withe pastel chalks because I love how they blend and are easy to take out and put away for short working sessions and create surprising results. With a multi cat plus household its an absolute plus. Pastels take over and you just follow along however they lead you. They're very tactile since you work with your fingers blending. These I created from quick sketches on pale blue construction paper outlined with colored glue and colored with pastels. All the materials were inexpensive. The flower wee painted on white drawing paper and I used poster paints then cut them out. Wanting to stay focused with my coloring goal I just played around arranging the flowers and set then on black paper to take the pictures. Then I took pictures and critiqued my own work made changes rearranged the flowers and cats and voila I had a finished creation from my practice session. . I didn't have to start over because I ruined the background. I wonder how the pastels will behave on colored pastel paper. All ideas, technique, and coloring inspired by pins on pinerest No expensive books or classes to attend.

All ideas start with something on paper. To get down your ideas then improve and improvise.
